Celebration Obstetrics & Gynecology
Celebration OBGYN is pleased to announce that Kanisha Sierra-Rios, MD joined our practice in October 2017.
Dr. Sierra-Rios was born and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to a close-knit family, being the youngest of four girls. She attended Catholic School from kindergarten through high school and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. Later she attended Ponce School of Medicine for her medical degree and the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine to complete her residency. During her residency, she was awarded the “Recognition of Excellence on Minimally Invasive Surgery” by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
After arriving to the Hospital San Pablo in Bayamon, Dr. Sierra noticed the need for the humanization of the delivery process and the high cesarean section rate. Her flagship project was the Humanized Birth Program which focuses on decreasing the C-section rate by empowering pregnant patients who previously had no input regarding her care, by adding doulas to the OB team to work as advocates for the patient. She believes that there is no other specialty that offered her the privilege to care for women throughout all the stages of her life. Having the opportunity to be a surgeon and a primary care physician at the same time, is something that gives her great passion to provide exceptional care for her patients.
In her personal time, Dr. Sierra-Rios enjoys spending time with her husband of five years Jose. They enjoy the beach, golfing, traveling, music, food and family.
“I come from a tiny island in the Caribbean with 3.5 million people. Starting our lives in Florida allowed us to feel the same warmth and comfort we used to get back home but where I could further develop my career and skills being surrounded by such a talented team. I am excited to share my love and passion with every single one of my patients.” -Dr. Sierra-Rios

Nutrition is Key for a Healthy Pregnancy
Eating a healthy, balanced diet while you’re pregnant protects you and your growing baby. Although you should take a prenatal vitamin as insurance, choosing the right foods will help give you the complex mix of nutrients that pregnant women need. Aim for meals high in these important nutrients:
Baby Benefits: Builds bones and teeth. (Your growing baby takes the calcium she needs from your body, so to keep your bones and teeth healthy, you need to get enough to replace that amount.)
Your Benefits: Protects your bone density. It may also help prevent high blood pressure while you’re pregnant.
Pregnancy RDA: 1,000 milligrams (mg); don’t exceed 2,500 mg
