SERVICES: Mammography

Women’s Imaging Services

Celebration Obstetrics & Gynecology is happy to announce the upcoming launch of their on-site 3D screening mammography service, set to begin in July 2025, at the Celebration, Florida location. Patients can now look forward to a more seamless healthcare experience, combining routine obstetric and gynecologic care with preventive imaging in one centralized visit.

By integrating breast health care alongside routine obstetric and gynecologic services, we hope to eliminate barriers, enhance convenience, and ultimately improve outcomes for the women in our community.

Mammography: A Lifesaving Tool in Women’s Health

Mammography is a specialized medical imaging technique that uses low-dose X-rays to examine breast tissue for early signs of cancer and other abnormalities. It is considered one of the most effective tools for detecting breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages—often before symptoms appear. Routine mammograms can identify changes in breast tissue such as lumps, calcifications, or distortions that may not be felt during a physical exam. Because early detection significantly improves the chances of successful treatment, mammography plays a critical role in women’s preventive health care.

On-Site Mammography for Better Preventive Care

By integrating breast cancer screening right into our practice, we aim to streamline preventive health for women, making it easier than ever to schedule a mammogram during routine visits. The facility is equipped with high-resolution 3D mammography technology, which enhances early detection capabilities compared to traditional two-dimensional imaging. With early detection being a cornerstone in improving breast cancer outcomes, this localized service could be lifesaving for many in the Celebration community.

Two main types of mammograms:

  • Screening mammograms are performed on women who have no symptoms and are part of regular breast cancer screening, typically starting at age 40 depending on individual risk factors.

  • Diagnostic mammograms, on the other hand, are used when there is a concern such as a lump, pain, or changes in breast appearance.

Advances in technology, such as 3D mammography (also known as digital breast tomosynthesis), have further improved the clarity and accuracy of imaging, helping reduce false positives and the need for additional testing.
